Suspect Arrests in Wallet Theft Crime Series

This surveillance resulted in the arrest of Robin Marc Smith (age 49) and Dorothy Ann Smith (age 57) on multiple counts of Burglary, Criminal Conspiracy and Credit Card Fraud.

Detectives believe that the Smiths are linked to a series of wallet thefts having occurred as early as 1994.  These thefts, occurring in Irvine and South Orange County involve the suspect walking through commercial office buildings and taking wallets from office desks or purses. The suspects have been linked to purchases with these stolen credit cards shortly after the thefts. Irvine and Orange County Sheriff Detectives estimate the loss based on these fraudulent purchases at over one million dollars.
