REWARD!

Officers “Ticket” Irvine Kids for Positive Behavior

7/5/2011

The Irvine Police Department has once again teamed up with 7-Eleven on “Operation Chill”.

Operation Chill is a program targeting youth making positive contributions to their community and to their own futures through their actions.   Irvine officers will “ticket” youngsters with Slurpee coupons when they are observed doing something helpful, deterring crime or participating in a positive activity in the community.  These free Slurpee coupons will be issued during the summer months and into the school year.

Since the program’s inception in 1996, more than ten million Operation Chill coupons have been distributed across the country.  As a community supporter of crime prevention, 7-Eleven developed the Operation Chill program to positively reward and encourage good behavior by kids.

“The Irvine Police Department is dedicated to fostering positive relationships with our community’s youth” said Chief David L. Maggard.  “The men and women of our police department embrace every opportunity to reinforce good citizenship”.

“Tickets” issued by the police can be redeemed at participating 7-Eleven stores for a free small Slurpee.  7-Eleven’s nation-wide program will reward one million kids in 2011!
