Tip-A-Cop Event Raises $7,200 to Benefit Special Olympics

On Thursday, June 9, 2011, nearly fifty employees of the Irvine Police Department volunteered their time to “Serve” their community and help the Special Olympics.

The event, supported by three restaurants in the Irvine Spectrum, was an overwhelming success, raising $7,200 which will go toward supporting local Special Olympians.

Families dined at Ruby’s Diner, Javier’s Cantina, and Red Robin while officers seated patrons, served drinks, and collected tips.  Even K9 Buddy and K9 Rudy got in on the fun, collecting and carrying tips around on their collars!

If you missed out on the fun, it’s not too late to support the Special Olympics!  Three SWAT Team members are going “OVER THE EDGE” of a 16-story hotel in Long Beach in October and they need your sponsorship.
