IRVINE, CA (July 15, 2008) Among 100 cities ranked, the City of Irvine has been named the fourth Best City to Live in the United States by Money Magazine.  In its annual survey of cities throughout the United States, the magazine reviewed cities with populations under 300,000 that featured great schools, low crime rates, bustling economies, and short commutes where residents can find work within the places they live.

"We are extremely pleased that Irvine has been nationally recognized as a great place to live," said Mayor Beth Krom.  "This further enhances our reputation as a well-planned community that strives for excellence in public safety, education, parks, and open space." 

Irvine is a city of 209,000 recognized for the fourth year in a row as America’s safest city.  Top-rated educational institutions, an enterprising business atmosphere, sound environmental stewardship, and respect for diversity all contribute to Irvine’s enviable quality of life.  This family-friendly city features more than 16,000 acres of parks, sports fields, and dedicated open space and is currently planning and designing the Orange County Great Park – the first great metropolitan park of the 21st century.
