On Saturday, September 24, and Sunday, September 25, children across the City of Irvine will be hosting LemonAID stands, bake sales, car washes or other fundraising efforts in their neighborhoods to support Charity Hospital’s Children’s Ward in New Orleans and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.  It is an event for Irvine children, with the help of their parents, to aid the many children affected by Hurricane Katrina.

LemonAID is supported by the Irvine Police Department, the City of Irvine, the Orange County Fire Authority, Team Kids, Inc., the Irvine Boys and Girls Club, Irvine Unified School District, and the Irvine Prevention Coalition.

Children will be dropping off the funds they raised at the Irvine Police Department or an Irvine fire station between 3:00-6:00 pm Saturday, Sunday or Monday (September 24th, 25th or 26th). They will have the opportunity to be photographed with a police officer or firefighter and will also receive a certificate of appreciation.  Children are being asked to bring their homemade LemonAID signs to the police or fire department when they drop off the money they raised.

Police and Fire volunteers will also be on hand on these days to provide information to the public about disaster preparedness and answer any questions about the City’s emergency preparedness plan.

Team Kids, Inc’s mission is to engage children to work alongside Police and Firefighters to help others in need.  All funds will be totaled and announced during a special Team Kids, Inc event, which will also honor the 12 Irvine Firefighters who served in Louisiana with Task Force 5. This event will be held Saturday, October 1, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Il Fornaio Restaurant in Irvine, Ca.  Call 949-654-KIDS for event information.

Everyone is encouraged to support their local LemonAid stands.  Community members interested in taking part in this exciting fundraiser can find out more at
