IRVINE, CA (March 18, 2014):  The Irvine Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred last night, March 17, just after 8:00 p.m. on Main Street just west of Paseo Westpark.  A motorist reported the collision after coming upon the motorcyclist after he was already down. Emergency personnel responded and determined the man was deceased at the scene.

The Irvine Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is currently investigating the cause and details surrounding the collision. Preliminary information indicates the rider, an adult male, lost control of his motorcycle and was ejected. The Orange County Coroner's Office responded to the scene to conduct an investigation into the cause of death.

The victim has been identified as 22-year-old, Paul Tapalla of Montclair.
