IRVINE, CA (December 30, 2012) The Irvine Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint during the evening hours on Saturday, March 16, 2013. The checkpoint was located at Jamboree Road and Barranca Parkway in the City of Irvine. As part of a DUI Checkpoint grant awarded by the Office of Traffic Safety, the purpose of the checkpoint was to deter impaired driving and remove impaired drivers from the roadway.
This checkpoint was staffed by sworn officers and professional staff of the Irvine Police Department as well as community volunteers. Funding was provided through a grant awarded to the City of Irvine by the California Office of Traffic Safety.
No significant traffic delays were encountered as a result of the checkpoint.
