Irvine Officers arrest man who hid in his estranged wife’s home and threatened her with a knife

IRVINE, CA (October 17, 2012):  Irvine Police Officers arrested Danny Jose Urena (2/21/85) of Irvine after he hid in the bedroom of his estranged wife’s home and threatened her with a knife.

 

Today, shortly before 2:00 PM, Irvine Officers were sent to the 300 block of Topeka for a Domestic Disturbance.  When the Officers arrived they contacted the victim who said her estranged husband had entered her house without permission and hid in the bedroom closet.  The victim was not home at the time he entered.  She returned home a short time later with another person.  The suspect confronted the victim and this other person in the bedroom.  According to the victim, the suspect was armed with a large butcher knife and was threatening to harm both the victim and this other person.

 

The victim and the suspect got into a physical altercation and the victim was struck by the suspect.  The suspect dropped the knife and fled the residence.  The victim did not have any visible injuries, nor did the other subject present.

 

The Irvine Officers were able to locate the suspect in another area of the City where he was taken into custody without incident.  The suspect was arrested and later booked into Orange County Jail on the following charges:

 

Penal Code 459 – Burglary (Felony)

Penal Code 422 – Criminal Threats (Felony)

Penal Code 417(a)(1) – Brandishing a Weapon (Misdemeanor)

Penal Code 243 (e)(1) – Domestic Battery (Misdemeanor)
