IRVINE, CA (September 6, 2012):  Irvine Police Detectives arrested sex registrant Jean Pierre Nguyen (06-06-1961), of Garden Grove, when he arrived to play tennis at a City of Irvine park at 4:30 p.m. today.

Nguyen has been a sex registrant since 1996, after receiving a misdemeanor conviction for child annoyance in the City of Cypress. Nguyen is also on Orange County Probation after being convicted of indecent exposure in Garden Grove earlier this year.

Irvine Police Detectives received information from members of the Orange County Probation Department that Nguyen may be visiting the City of Irvine to play tennis at Citrus Glen Park.

Detectives saw Nguyen park his car and walk to the tennis courts. Detectives quickly contacted and interviewed Nguyen. He was arrested for violating the Irvine Municipal Code that prohibits certain registered sex offenders from entering any City park or recreational facility.

This municipal code section was adopted in July of 2011. Nguyen’s arrest is the first made for a violation of this code.

Nguyen was booked into the Orange County Jail for violating his probation.
