IRVINE, CA (May 22, 2012):  Late last night, Irvine police officers arrested Shalabh Rastogi (1-24-73), of Irvine for the murder of his 40-year-old wife.

At approximately 9:40 p.m., Irvine police dispatchers received a call from Rastogi reporting that he had killed his wife at their Irvine apartment during an argument.  Officers arrived minutes later to discover the body of an adult woman obviously deceased.

Rastogi was cooperative with officers and was immediately detained.  Rastogi was later arrested for the charge of murder and booked into the Orange County Jail where he is being held in lieu of one million dollars bail.

The couple has been married for approximately 13 years and has lived together at the location for the past 8 months.  The couple’s three school aged children were not home at the time of the incident and have been since taken into protective custody pending permanent placement.

There is no indication that a weapon was used.  The Orange County Coroner’s Office is conducting the investigation into the exact cause of death.
